Sports Coach & Psychologist

Ingrid

A psychologist specialising in sport and in mental health applied to training. She works on the most overlooked part of performance: the mind. Because training well is about far more than moving weight.

Íngrid Xapelli, sports psychologist and coach at Barcelona Barbell Club

The most important foundation of training: the mind

I am Ingrid, a psychologist and sports coach. I specialised in sports psychology and in mental health applied to performance because I saw, time and again, that the people who were not progressing were not held back by a poor training plan. It was what was going on inside · motivation fading, stress piling up, habits that never quite took hold.

At Barcelona Barbell Club I work with our clients so they can improve their performance from that foundation up. Through personalised follow-up, I work on key areas such as motivation, stress management, building solid habits, mindset and commitment to yourself. Psychological tools applied directly to the training context, whether in one-to-one sessions or in a group.

I believe in taking an integrated view of the process. When body and mind work in step, progress speeds up, consistency takes hold and results do not just arrive · they last. That is what separates someone who trains for six months from someone who trains for life.

Psychological work applied to training is where lasting habits are built. Beyond the plan itself, motivation, stress management and building sustainable routines are pillars of every process.

How I can help

Areas of work with Ingrid

This is not about "thinking positive". It is about concrete tools that work.

Genuine motivation

We identify what really drives you and build intrinsic motivation that does not run dry when training gets hard.

Stress management

Psychological strategies so that day-to-day stress does not eat into your energy, your sleep or your ability to recover between sessions.

Building habits

Habits are not created through willpower · they are designed. We work on your environment, your routines and your triggers so that training becomes automatic.

A progress mindset

Changing your relationship with failure, frustration and plateaus. An athlete with the right mindset keeps moving forward when others give up.

Lasting commitment

So your commitment to your training and to yourself lasts months and years, not weeks. Tools for self-regulation and personal tracking.

An integrated view

Body and mind as one system. We integrate the psychological work with the team's physical programming so that everything pulls in the same direction.

"Training well is not just about moving weight: it is about sustaining it mentally."
