Why choose us

The training club you were looking for in Barcelona

Tailored training, limited capacity, close supervision and measurable progress, focused on reaching your personal goals and improving your health.

Strength training for every level

We adapt to your level, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced. Strength improves your health, prevents injuries, increases bone density, improves body composition and boosts functional longevity: three pillars backed by scientific evidence.

Coaches with specialist training

A team with a master's degree in personal training, NSCA certifications and specialisms in strength, sports rehab, hypertrophy, weightlifting technique and sports psychology applied to performance.

Maximum 8 people on the floor

No waiting for racks, bars or kit. Groups of up to 4 people with real attention from your coach throughout the session. Limited capacity guaranteed by advance booking.

Our own science-based method

Block-periodised programming with progress measured in RPE (rate of perceived exertion), RIR (reps in reserve) and loads relative to your 1RM. Nothing improvised: every block has a clear intention.

What it is

What is personal training and why does it work?

A service in which a coach designs your plan, supervises every session and adjusts loads, exercises and technique as you progress. What sets it apart from a conventional gym is not the machines: it is the planning and the technical attention.

A plan built for you

Loads, reps, exercises and rest designed around your goal. Block periodisation of 4 to 6 weeks with clear progression measured in RPE, RIR and kilos lifted.

Continuous technical correction

Every rep reviewed by a coach with specialist training (NSCA, master's in personal training, rehab). Technique is what separates a useful squat from an injury.

Objective measurements

Regular tests of maximal strength, rep maxes, body composition and mobility. No abstract goals: every cycle has concrete metrics we review with you.

Consistency and mindset

The best plan is the one you stick to. We work on habits, sleep, nutrition basics and psychological support when needed. Strength is built through consistency, not isolated heroic sessions.

So which one is yours? Three ways to train, one single goal

At Barbell Club we work on two main pillars, strength with barbells and free weights and functional conditioning, and three formats depending on who you train with and how: individual, duo or small group. Every plan combines both pillars in the proportion your goal needs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about personal training in Barcelona

The real questions we get before a first class, grouped by topic.

Your first class and pricing

How much does it cost to train at Barcelona Barbell Club?

Prices start from 90€ a month. We offer different plans to suit your needs: individual training, duo training and small groups. After your initial assessment we suggest the format and price that best match your goal.

Is the initial assessment really free and with no obligation?

Yes, completely. It is a 1 hour session at no cost and with no obligation, where we get to know you, assess your starting point and explain how we can help. At the end we suggest the format that fits best, with no pressure at all.

Do I have to sign a minimum term or an annual contract?

No. We work with class packs and monthly memberships with no minimum term. If for any reason you need to pause or stop training, there is no contractual penalty.

Method and planning

What is personal training and how is it different from a regular gym?

Personal training is a service in which a coach designs an individual plan and supervises every session, correcting technique and adjusting loads as you progress. Compared with a conventional gym, three things change: a written, personal plan, groups of no more than 4 people (not 25) and technical correction on every exercise.

How many days a week do I need to train to see results?

With 2 sessions a week you already see strength and body composition adaptations within 6 to 8 weeks. With 3 sessions progress speeds up, and that is the most common rhythm among our members. Beyond 4 sessions the marginal return drops and the risk of accumulated fatigue increases.

How long does it take to notice progress?

The first neurological adaptations (better technique, more perceived strength) appear within 3 to 4 weeks. Visible changes in body composition and measurable performance in loads settle in between 8 and 12 weeks. Progress depends on consistency and recovery.

Does this method work for losing fat or only for building muscle?

It works for both goals. Strength is the shared engine. If your goal is fat loss, we adjust volume and frequency and combine training with metabolic conditioning. If your goal is hypertrophy, we prioritise volume and intensity. The plan adapts to each profile through block periodisation of 4 to 6 weeks.

Do I need previous experience to start?

No. We adapt everything to your level. If you have never trained before, we start with the technical basics, light loads and plenty of correction. If you are coming from another gym, we start from your current level and build a progressive plan.

Injuries, age and safety

Can I train if I have an injury or chronic pain?

Yes. We have sports rehab coaches and we work alongside physiotherapists. We adapt the plan to your situation: lumbar disc issues, knee problems, painful shoulder or other conditions. We modify exercises, loads and movement patterns so you can train without making things worse.

Is lifting weights safe if I am over 50 or have never trained for strength?

Yes, and it is in fact one of the most valuable things you can do for your health. Strength protects joints, improves bone density and prevents falls. We start with safe loads and ranges, technique first, and progress at the pace your body allows.

Location and clubs

Where is the Barcelona Barbell Club gym?

We have two clubs in Barcelona: Passeig de Sant Joan (Passatge d'Alió 10, 08037, next to Joanic L4 and Verdaguer L4/L5) and Glòries (Consell de Cent 555, 08013, next to Encants L2 and Glòries L1). Same method and same coaches at both.

Do you train people from Eixample, Gràcia, Sagrada Família, Sant Andreu or Poblenou?

Yes. Our two clubs are in central Barcelona and we train people from Eixample Dret, Eixample Esquerre, Gràcia, Sagrada Família, El Clot, Poblenou, Sant Andreu, Sant Martí, Vila de Gràcia, Sant Gervasi and El Putxet, among other nearby neighbourhoods.

Are there changing rooms at the gym?

Yes. Both locations have changing rooms. They do not have showers.

Community and well-known cases

Is it true that you train Ibai Llanos?

Yes. Ibai Llanos trains with Barcelona Barbell Club through our in-home personal training service, led by our founder Álex Saiz. The same planning and the same coaches who work with him are available to anyone who trains with us.
